The finalists for the 2017 Australian Broking Awards have been revealed, with more than 70 brokers making the final cut for the individual award categories, including the coveted Residential Broker of the Year award.
Now in its seventh year, The Adviser Australian Broking Awards — partnered by Commonwealth Bank — are the only industry awards focusing solely on the leading brokers, brokerages and aggregation groups in the Australian mortgage industry.
From hundreds of nominations, the field has now been narrowed down to a handful of leading brokers, brokerages, and aggregation groups across 10 individual award categories, including Residential Broker of the Year, Commercial Broker of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Asset Finance Broker of the Year.
Several brokers have made the final cut for several individual categories, including Justin Doobov (Intelligent Finance), Bertie Stanley (Stanley Finance), Chris Foster-Ramsay (Foster Ramsay Finance), Colin Lamb (Mortgage and Finance Solutions), Ian Robinson (Robinson Sewell Partners), Matthew Carr (MC Mortgage Solutions), Tamara Virgo (TV Financial Services) and Xavier Quenon (Go Mortgage Corporation).
In the 18 group categories, there are also several companies that are up for multiple awards, including AFG, 1st Street Financial, Choice Home Loans (Coffs Harbour), Connective, eChoice, Liberty Network Services, Loan Market, Momentum Wealth, Mortgage Choice, Neue Black, Shore Financial, and The Loan Company.

Momentum Media’s managing editor of mortgages, James Mitchell, said the calibre of this year’s submissions reflects the high-level of professionalism within the mortgage broking industry and demonstrates why more consumers are choosing brokers.
“While there is plenty of uncertainty and potential change on the horizon for mortgage broking, the strength of this industry should not be underestimated,” Mr Mitchell said.
“The finalists for the 2017 Australian Broking Awards embody the level of service and dedication that customers have come to expect from the third-party channel,” he said. “There is a reason why brokers are now the channel of choice for Australian borrowers.”
“This industry continues to grow from strength to strength and we are grateful to be part of that growth. On behalf of The Adviser I would like to congratulate all of this year’s finalists.”
The winners for each of the 28 categories will be announced at a five-star awards luncheon on Friday, 30 June at The Star in Sydney.
