Momentum Media has launched the 2022 Graduate Program as it looks to foster emerging talent in Australian journalism.
The Momentum Media 2022 Graduate Program will kick off early next year, with applications open now.
The program will see students given experience operating in an award-winning media business, applying the skills they learnt in university to a real-life newsroom environment.
As well as being taught the fundamentals of procuring online news articles, the successful applicant will be given the opportunity to participate in developing podcasts, webcasts, print magazines and events across Momentum Media’s extensive portfolio of products.
Working closely with Momentum Media’s editors, the successful applicant will receive extensive one-on-one training, learning how to operate both independently and as part of a team.
Momentum Media managing editor Emma Ryan said the launch of the 2022 program comes as part of the group’s goal to ensure it fosters talented students making their way into journalism upon completion of their tertiary education.
“The launch of the 2022 Graduate Program comes at an opportune time as we look to identify those rising stars looking to carve out their path in journalism,” she said.
“We’ve seen how valuable new-to-industry journalists are when they’ve joined the business, so we’re looking forward to continuing to capture those who are keen to make their mark in the industry, while nurturing and guiding them through developing their skills further.”
To be eligible for the program, students must be completing their final year of university study and be able to demonstrate how the program would be beneficial to their career.
“We want to hear from final year students who can not only put together an impressive article, but those who exude a passion for learning and a keen attitude to match,” Ms Ryan said.
