More than 200 people attended the inaugural 2024 Australian Aviation Summit in August.
The event, held on 29 August in conjunction with the annual Australian Aviation Awards, saw 233 attendees from across the aviation sector gather at The Star in Sydney for a day of insights and analysis into the future of aviation in a post-pandemic world.
The event was sponsored by principal partner Leidos Australia along with platinum partner Airservices Australia; gold partners Aviation Australia, Boeing, Sigma Aerospace and Wing; and a number of other industry and charity partners.
Outside the main conference hall, guests were able to meet with a number of exhibitors and experience a live VR demonstration by advanced air mobility company Wisk of a potential “air taxi” ride from downtown Brisbane to the airport.
“Overall fantastic day and very professionally run. Loved being part of it,” one attendee said.
Australian Aviation editor Adam Thorn said the event will likely grow to be bigger and better still in coming years.
“This was a great first year for the Australian Aviation Summit, with a solid foundation to build on for future events,” he said.
“We had a wide range of speakers and panellists providing valuable insights on everything from the push for ‘Jet Zero’ to increasing diversity in the aviation sector, analysis of the recent Aviation White Paper, and the future of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles in Australia.
“Thank you to our partners and all our guests, including Western Sydney International Airport CEO Simon Hickey and our keynote speaker, interim Airservices Australia CEO Rob Sharp, for making our inaugural event a success.”
The summit and awards will return in 2025, with dates yet to be announced.
