Momentum Media and law brand Lawyers Weekly — along with principal partner nrol — are calling on all female legal professionals to enter this year’s Women in Law Awards, across 29 categories.
Nominations and submissions have opened for the 2023 Women in Law Awards, which has 26 individual and three group categories on offer.
Submit an entry or nominate a worthy colleague by Thursday, 31 August 2023 for a shot at being recognised on the national stage.
Run with the support of principal partner and legal recruitment agency nrol, the 12th annual Women in Law Awards will recognise the exceptional women leading the charge in Australian law.
It will culminate in a black-tie gala ceremony at Crown, Melbourne on Thursday, 23 November 2023. Click here to buy your tickets now.
The prestigious national awards program presents an opportunity for the top-performing women in the legal profession to showcase their talent and achievements, attract more clients, and propel their careers.
The awards will celebrate the best and brightest in law who have gone above and beyond for their clients and firms, including partners, executives, barristers, senior associates, pro bono lawyers, academics, students, innovators, and the rising stars of tomorrow.
They will also acknowledge Indigenous lawyers, innovators, mentors, general and special counsel, as well as wellness advocates and law firms that champion diversity.
Individual categories on offer include Dealmaker of the Year, HR Professional of the Year, and Sole Practitioner of the Year, while group categories include Boutique Diversity Law Firm of the Year, Diversity Law Firm of the Year, and Innovator of the Year (Firm).
The highest-scoring individual winner will become the recipient of this year’s Women in Law Excellence Award.
In 2022, this award went to Maddocks’ partner Sonia Sharma, after she was named Partner of the Year – BigLaw.
Securing a Women in Law Award will distinguish organisations from their competitors when attracting and retaining the best talent while strengthening their position when winning and retaining business. For individuals, recognition would underpin career advancement, and reaffirm their role in advancing the legal industry.
Judged by a well-respected panel of experts – including academics, executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators – the awards are peer-reviewed recognition of your capabilities and passion for propelling the industry forward. Click here to view the judging process.
The awards ceremony is an opportunity for the legal profession to celebrate their achievements while networking with industry leaders and their peers.

“Moreover, this cause resonates deeply with me because as a father to a wonderful daughter, I’m personally invested in advancing gender equality.
“Together, let us champion the achievements of women in law, shaping a brighter, more equitable future for all.”
Lawyers Weekly editor Jerome Doraisamy added: “It is always such a pleasure to host the annual Women in Law Awards.
“Women are increasingly occupying senior leadership positions and judgeships across the country, however, there remains work to be done in overcoming structural and cultural barriers to success for female legal professionals.”
“Lawyers Weekly is honoured to do its part in championing the extraordinary achievements of women profession-wide. We look forward to seeing all the nominations,” he concluded.
