Exclusive data has uncovered the occupations that Australian legal professionals have their eye on most.
The Lawyers Weekly Jobs board relaunched in December 2015 to our own in-house platform, enabling us with the capability to deliver customised functionality and improved performance for our advertisers and job seekers alike.
Since the relaunch, data has indicated that there are certain job titles and keyword searches popping up prominently, giving an indication of what legal professionals, those both new-to-industry and more established, are searching for when they’re after a new role.
When analysing the results, Lawyers Weekly can reveal that the top job title searched for is an associate position. This is followed by legal secretary, lawyer, legal assistant, paralegal, law clerk, solicitor, counsel, secretary and junior lawyer.
Meanwhile, the top keyword searches are legal, followed by lawyer. The next keyword searches are paralegal, legal secretary, legal counsel, law graduate, junior lawyer, law student and legal assistant – in that order.
In addition, the data provides us with an indication of which keywords receive the highest clicks which thereby suggest which type of roles have the highest levels of competition.
In terms of top keyword searches versus competition, criminal law jobs, criminal law, legal jobs Sydney, Australian law firms, law firms Perth, law firms Melbourne, law firms Canberra and international law jobs are all ranked as having medium competition, meaning they receive a significant proportion of clicks.
Meanwhile, civil law, legal assistant, paralegal jobs, legal counsel jobs Sydney, government jobs, administrative law, barrister and corporate law, are ranked as having low competition, meaning they receive a lesser proportion of clicks.
The data also provides an indication of the top locations these searches are coming from.
Unsurprisingly, Sydney jobs are the most searched for, with 30,094 searches completed every month.
This is followed by Melbourne with 21,935 searches, Brisbane with 6,014, Perth with 3,767, Canberra with 2,396, and Adelaide with 1,482.
Newcastle is the seventh top location searched, with 982 searches per month, according to our jobs board.
