Nominations and submissions are now open for the annual Corporate Counsel Awards 2025 – with a range of new categories on offer.

The benchmark awards program for excellence in the corporate counsel sector is back!

Momentum Media and Lawyers Weekly are calling on the nation’s top-performing in-house counsel to submit an entry or nominate a colleague or team by Friday, 14 February 2025, to be recognised for outstanding achievement in the prestigious Corporate Counsel Awards.

In Australia’s evolving legal landscape – characterised by regulatory complexities, increasing globalisation, and rapid technological advancements – the demand for excellence among in-house counsel has never been greater.

In-house counsel play a pivotal role in risk management, making their services crucial while navigating budgetary limitations. The expertise of in-house counsel not only safeguards the organisation but also drives strategic initiatives, positioning legal teams as essential partners in business growth.

This prestigious awards program honours in-house counsel who have steered their organisation towards unbounded success in this ever-evolving business environment.

The Corporate Counsel Awards is open to in-house counsel across a diverse range of industries, including travel, transport, sports, insurance, healthcare, not-for-profit, defence, real estate, education, and more.

There are 25 individual categories on offer, including Agribusiness Lawyer of the Year, Government Lawyer of the Year, Consultancy Lawyer of the Year, and Professional Services Lawyer of the Year.

A total of nine group categories provide businesses the opportunity to showcase excellence, with categories including Large Law Department of the Year, Best Performance by a Team in Dealmaking, and Best Performance by a Team in ESG.

The judging criteria for award categories are both quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to Australia’s legal sector.

All businesses and professionals who meet eligibility criteria from across Australia’s in-house counsel industry are encouraged to participate in the awards program.
