Better Business Awards announce Qld-based winners for 2025

Momentum Media’s broking brand, The Adviser has announced a total of 22 Queensland-based winners for the annual Better Business Awards.

The Better Business Awards will continue on to South Australia this Friday.

Queensland-based mortgage and finance broking professionals gathered on Thursday, 20 March 2025 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre for the 12th annual Better Business Awards 2025.

A total of 22 winners were announced, including the recipient of the coveted Broker of the Year and Editor’s Choice awards.

Run in partnership with principal partner National Australia Bank (NAB), the Better Business Awards program celebrates excellence in the mortgage and finance industry, showcasing professionals and businesses that have made significant contributions over the past year.

There are two remaining gala ceremonies across Adelaide and Sydney for the state-based awards program, to be held between March and April 2025.

Almost 150 finalists across Queensland battled it out for trophies across individual and group categories, with the highest-scoring individual winner being crowned the coveted Broker of the Year award in each state.

The range of winners spans brokers, brokerages, loan administrators, business development managers (BDMs), large and boutique franchise and non-franchise offices, as well as industry thought leaders and mentors.

Deslie Taylor of Mortgage Choice was awarded Broker of the Year, having also walked away with the Best Residential Broker award earlier in the night.

Paul Steele of Green Finance Group was crowned Editor’s Choice.

Other individual winners included Maddie Walton of Money Lounge as New Broker of the Year, Naomi Sekeres of ubank as Best Lender BDM (Bank), Amy Thorburn of SFG as Best Aggregator BDM, and more.

Some of the group winners included Mortgage Innovations as Best Regional Office, STAC Capital as Best Finance Brokerage (Office), and Preston Point Capital as Best Community Engagement Program.

Australian stand-up comedian, actor, television, and radio presenter, Dave Thornton, performed emcee duties, providing light and laughter throughout the evening.
