Partner Summit launches for 2025

Partner Summit launches for 2025

Momentum Media’s legal brand, Lawyers Weekly, alongside principal partner Thomson Reuters, is pleased to launch the second annual Partner Summit.

The Partner Summit is back and promises to challenge law firm partners to think beyond traditional understandings of management and practical expertise.

Following a successful inaugural event in 2024, the Partner Summit is back to deliver a dynamic national forum dedicated to tackling the most pressing concerns of law firm partners.

The highly anticipated event features an impressive speaker line-up, including nine-time Olympic medalist and Aussie legend Ian Thorpe, AM. Thorpe will deliver an engaging keynote address exploring mental health at the height of leadership.

With studies reporting heightened levels of depression, anxiety, and stress among legal professionals, Thorpe’s address will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to reflect on their organisation’s approach to workplace mental health.

The Partner Summit will take place on Thursday, 12 June 2025, at The Star, Sydney. Click here to buy tickets.

The jam-packed agenda is set to explore how AI is upending client expectations, redefining team management, and challenging underlying business models.

Navigating impulse and uncertainty on the global stage

This session will see panellists share the impact of the Trump presidency on cross-jurisdictional collaboration, examine how new technologies create fresh legal competition, and explore approaches to balancing purpose and profit in the global landscape.

How AI is changing the commodification of time

Sam Nickless, CEO of Gilbert + Tobin, will be joined by industry leaders to examine the widespread adoption of AI in a legal setting, including its impact on client-centric relationships, how AI-empowered firms are operating, and debate time-based versus fixed-pricing methods.

Supporting innovation with security

Panellists in the innovation session will assess competing priorities for AI adoption, balancing human oversight and quality with AI use and how partners can stay abreast of developments in AI and cyber security.

How to ask the hard questions the right way

In this session, partners can expect to hear how they can introduce stability and seamless transition for clients, strategies for structured succession plans, and how to navigate cultural and generational differences in ways of working.

Managing an augmented workforce

Kirsten Rillo, CEO of Mitimes, and Jennifer Cathcart, APAC leader at NetDocuments, will explore the impact of AI on learning and development, discuss how to set benchmarks for attracting and retaining talent, and address ongoing efforts to protect the wellbeing of both young lawyers and established partners.
