In-house counsel consistently showcase their value to their organisation by managing and mitigating risk while adhering to budget constraints.
As organisations increasingly expect legal departments to play a central role in their business strategy and outcomes, the summit will offer professional development and continuous learning.
Legal teams will hear about the latest regulatory changes and technological tools to ensure that their organisations are at the forefront of these developments.
The summit will begin with a keynote session by Mel Scott, senior legal counsel at Megaport Limited, host of The Counsel Podcast, and winner of the In-House Lawyer of the Year at the Corporate Counsel Awards 2023.
She will highlight how in-house counsel will evolve, what the next generation of successful in-house lawyers looks like, expectations and responsibilities that will define the corporate landscape, and how legal departments could contribute to this evolution.
This will be followed by a panel session on how to harness AI, the impact of future large language models, and how this could change business communication and innovation.
Speakers will consider the ethical implications of integrating AI into organisations and legal departments, and the legal intricacies of generative AI.
The next session will delve into how legal departments can navigate complex contract management by refining their negotiation skills and using legal tech.
In-house legal teams will learn how to detect and address unfair terms, and ensure that their contract management is legally and ethically sound.
The summit will also prepare organisations for litigation, particularly given the rising litigious climate in a post-pandemic world and greater regulatory scrutiny, which is placing additional pressure on businesses.
