Defence Connect has announced the third annual Australian Defence Industry Awards, celebrating the best of Australia's sovereign defence industry with principal partner KBR.
The 2021 Australian Defence Industry Awards gala has been set to take place on 9 September, and will celebrate those individuals and businesses who have gone above and beyond to support Australia's national resilience and sovereign defence industry.
Bringing together key decision makers from government, Defence and defence industry, attendees will celebrate winners from over 30 award categories in a black-tie gala event, building on the success of the previous sell-out ceremony in 2020.
Defence Connect has also confirmed that KBR will support the Australian Defence Industry Award gala as the event’s principal partner.
Rob Hawketts, vice president KBR government solutions APAC, welcomed the opportunity to support the ongoing development of Australia’s dynamic defence industry.
“Following the great success of the past two Australian Defence Industry Awards, KBR is proud to once again be the Principal Partner for the event this year. These awards provide an important opportunity to collectively recognise and celebrate the achievements of the companies, organisations and individuals that make up our sovereign Defence industry in supporting and enhancing Australian Defence Capabilities,” Mr Hawketts said.
KBR will be joined by Lockheed Martin Australia as the event’s platinum partner, and independent consulting, advisory and engineering firm Beca as the event’s gold partner.
Joe Vince, head of strategy, defence and aerospace, said, "This is the third year for the Australian Defence Industry Awards and as we deliver this program year-on-year the support from all across the industry continues to be truly overwhelming. We’re incredibly excited to be launching the 2021 awards and its set be a huge celebration and one we all deserve.
"Last year we had to manoeuvre our way around the heat of COVID, which saw us deliver the event across multiple locations, ensuring we could still recognise the great work that took place across the industry in 2020 – this year we will be bringing the industry back together, under one roof for a spectacular evening in Canberra.
"We are certainly looking forward to delivering this event and enjoying an evening with friends and colleagues from across the defence industry as we celebrate and recognise the industry’s most talented individuals and businesses that play a key role in advancing the nation and ensuring a more secure Australia.
"I encourage all to get involved and nominate yourself, a well-deserved colleague or business for this year's Australian Defence Industry Awards – these prestigious awards will help you gain acknowledgement for your contribution to the defence sector and help you stand out in what is a very competitive industry.
“A big thanks must be given to our principal partner KBR for their ongoing support and also to our platinum partner Lockheed Martin Australia and gold partner Beca.
"We will be keeping a close eye on COVID restrictions and will communicate any updates or changes if they occur."
Nominations for the awards will close on 24 June, with finalists announced on 19 July.
