Momentum Media today marked a major milestone, revealing it has acquired one of Australia’s leading defence media and content platforms.
Defence Connect was created in 2010 as a marketing and communication consulting firm for the defence industry. It quickly expanded into the delivery of event information via www.defenceconnect.com.au plus a curated news service, serving subscribers regular details on developments in the defence industry from domestic and global sources.
Alex Whitlock, director of Momentum Media, said the addition of defence into the business’ suite of professional vertical communities was a key objective that has now been realised.
“The defence industry is a dynamic sector of the economy and a vehicle for innovation that supports Australia’s long-term prosperity and national objectives.
“We see great scope to expand the brand from the strong position already established and support both prime contractors and SMEs as they capitalise on the increased focus and funding placed on the defence industry by the Australian government,” he said.
According to Victoria Lewis, principal of Defence Connect, the decision to join forces with Momentum Media paves the way for Defence Connect to rapidly capitalise on the strong engagement already built with the defence industry over the last five years.
“Defence Connect is now ready for the next step of its evolution and I’m excited about Momentum Media’s ability to take this challenger brand to new heights,” she said.
“Momentum has a proven track record for connecting vertical industry sectors and creating highly engaged audiences. Defence Connect can now draw on this expertise and enhance its overall proposition for the defence industry.”
Ms Lewis will continue with Defence Connect and help steer its growth as a consultant, assisting in the integration of the business into Momentum Media. She will also continue her focus on delivering marketing and communications services to the defence sector.
